February 1: Spring Break Plans!

I can't believe it's already February! Where has January gone?! My friend Amanda and I decided we'd better start planning our spring break to Italy, since it's only 24 days away (WOW!). We know we want to spend as much time in Rome as possible, but we also really want to go to Florence and a few other smaller towns on day trips. Currently, we're hoping to spend 2 or 3 days in Florence and the rest in Rome. Looks like we'll have to fly into Rome then take a train to Florence (the airport in Florence is tiny and far out of the city, so flying into Rome is cheaper and much less of a hassle), do Florence for at least one day, see the David, then take a day trip to Siena via San Gimignano (which is apparently an amazingly beautiful little castle town), and possibly a half-day trip to Pisa. The only thing really in Pisa is the leaning tower, so we may not be able to work it in, but it looks like we may be able to take a quick morning train trip over. Then in Rome, we want to do at least a day in the Vatican, a day for doing the Colloseum and other super old stuff, and a day for museums and such. We're also planning a day trip to Pompeii. So, anyway, that's the rough plan, but we'll see how we work it all in. We want to book our tickets and hostels by tomorrow, because we just realized something amazing: we're going to be in Rome over Carnival!!! I'm sure it will be absolutely crazy, but it's going to be SO much fun!
